What’s going on with Portland Democrats and Homeless Shelters?

As the charter commission race enters election day, last night Portland City Council (which is 100 percent Democrats) voted for a moratorium that prohibits any shelters from being built in the Portland Bayside neighborhood for the next six months. The vote was 6-3 and the Bangor Daily News focused on the locals in the neighborhood pushing for this temporary ban. I am certainly not surprised urban home owning liberals would support such a move , I don’t think it’s the center of this story at all....

Troy Jackson’s plans are straight out of the early 20th century

Its recently came to my attention that Troy Jackson is back on the stump bashing Canadian loggers in the Maine woods, which has been a hobby horse of Jackson’s. Troy has trotted this horse from his first failed run for office as a Republican to his ascent to Democratic State Senate Majority leader. Jackson has found an ally in congressman Jared Golden , both of whom are promoting the idea that Canandians are the enemy of Maine loggers and should be cut off from the Maine woods....
